FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

PREPNATION.COM SELECTS REGIONAL PLAYERS, COACH OF THE WEEK

October 4, 2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - PrepNation.com -- the online home of the National Prep Poll and the PrepNation 101 All-American Team -- has named its Week 5 regional players of the week and national coach of the week for the 2006 high school football season.

NORTHEAST
Averin Collier (QB/RB) Churchville-Chili (Churchville, N.Y.)

Collier (5-11, 190), one of the top junior prospects in the nation, ran for five touchdowns and passed for another score as the Saints whipped Greece Athena, 41-20. He had 230 yards rushing on 26 carries and completed four of seven passes for 102 yards. Collier was also PrepNation's Northeast Player of the Week following week two.

EAST COAST
Paul McCoy (RB) Matewan (W. Va.)

McCoy, another repeat PrepNation weekly player of the week this season, ran 29 times for 658 yards and 10 touchdowns in a 64-0 rout of Burch (Delbarton). The 658 yards is a single-game national record, according to the National High School Sports Record Book, edited by the National Federation of State High School Associations. McCoy is averaging more than 300 rushing yards and five touchdowns per game this season.

SOUTHEAST
Joe McKnight (RB/WR/DB) John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.)

McKnight accounted for 204 total yards, including touchdown receptions of 80 and 45 yards, in the No. 4 Patriots' 28-14 upset of then-No. 1 Hoover (Ala.). McKnight, a 5-11, 185-pound senior, also intercepted a Hoover pass late in the fourth quarter to seal the ESPNU-televised John Curtis win.

MIDWEST
Dan Dierking (RB) Wheaton-Warrenville South (Wheaton, Ill.)

Dierking, a 5-9, 180-pound senior who is committed to Purdue, scored all five of his team's touchdowns and had 318 total yards to lead Midwest No. 8 Tigers to a 34-20 win over state-ranked Naperville North. It is the third time in six games that Dierking has scored five or more touchdowns.

MIDLANDS
Ethan Magstadt (RB) Maple Grove (Minn.)

Magstadt had 461 all-purpose yards and scored all seven of his team's touchdowns to lead a 49-28 win over Osseo. The 6-1, 210-pound junior ran 25 times for 317 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned three kickoffs for 144 yards and a score.

SOUTHWEST
Clifton Toney (RB) Furr (Houston)

Toney, a 5-9, 175-pound senior, ran 26 times for 315 yards and six touchdowns to lead a wild 54-42 win over Davis (Houston). One week earlier, Toney ran for 214 yards with four rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in a win against Hitchcock.

WEST COAST
Isaiah Johnson (RB) Roosevelt (Portland, Ore.)

The 6-1, 200-pound senior ran 25 times for an Oregon big-school record 467 yards and six touchdowns in the Roughriders' thrilling 62-51 defeat of Eagle Point. For the season, Johnson has 82 carries for 949 yards (11.6 average) and 11 touchdowns.

NATIONAL COACH OF THE WEEK
J.T. Curtis - John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.)

Curtis, the nation's second all-time winningest coach and son of the school's founder, brought his team into a hostile environment and came from behind to defeat then-No. 1 ranked Hoover (Ala.), 28-14. A national television audience on ESPNU watched the Patriots recover from a first-quarter onslaught that gave Hoover an early 14-0 lead. Credit J.T. Curtis and staff for making key offensive and defensive adjustments and for keeping their players in the game mentally while Hoover jumped to the early advantage. Curtis is 433-46-6 in his 38th season and has led the Patriots to 20 state championships.
