PREPNATION.COM SELECTS REGIONAL PLAYERS, COACH OF THE WEEK

September 20, 2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - PrepNation.com -- the online home of the National Prep Poll and the PrepNation 101 All-American Team -- has named its Week 3 regional players of the week and national coach of the week for the 2006 high school football season.

NORTHEAST
Max Suter (RB/DB) Greensburg (Pa.) Central Catholic

The Syracuse-bound senior accounted for 430 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns playing in only the first half of the Centurions' 69-7 rout of Brownsville. Suter (5-11, 180) had 220 rushing yards on nine carries (24 average), one catch for 55 receiving yards, and had a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

EAST COAST
Eric Breitenstein (RB/DB) Watauga (N.C.)

The 5-11, 195-pound senior ran 21 times for 233 yards and three touchdowns in the Pioneers' 28-7 win against Ashe County (West Jefferson). Breitenstein also had 12 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown.

SOUTHEAST
Jason Bruce (QB) Natchez (Miss.)

Bruce had 475 yards of total offense and six touchdowns while leading the the Bulldogs' to a come-from-behind 41-35 win over Franklin County (Meadville). Bruce (5-10, 165) had 331 yards passing with three touchdowns and 144 rushing yards with three touchdowns as Natchez fought back from a 21-0 deficit.

MIDWEST
Rocco Pentello (QB) Westerville (Ohio) South

The 6-0, 190-pound senior accounted for 436 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in the Wildcats' 41-24 defeat of Grove City. Pentello had 211 yards passing with four touchdowns and rushed for 225 yards with two more scores.

MIDLANDS
Brandon Hall (RB) Manhattan (Kan.)

Hall ran 35 times for 281 yards and five touchdowns in the Indians' 41-7 rout of Highland Park (Topeka). The 6-2, 190-pound senior has 501 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in his last two games.

SOUTHWEST
Matt Simpson (QB) Shiloh Christian (Springdale, Ark.)

Simpson completed 29 of 44 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Saints (ranked No. 1 in the state 3A poll) to a thrilling 49-48 victory over Greenwood (which was ranked No. 1 in the 5A poll). Simpson ran 88 yards for another touchdown. The 6-foot, 215-pound senior has 103 passing touchdowns in his prep career.

WEST COAST
Mike MacGillivray (QB) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.)

The 5-10, 175-pound junior orchestrated the Spartans' vaunted veer attack with precision and speed in a 56-38 win against Elder (Cincinnat) at the Kirk Hebstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge. MacGillivray ran 15 times for 133 yards and completed 9 of 16 passes for 169 yards with six total touchdowns.

NATIONAL COACH OF THE WEEK
Frank Lenti - Mount Carmel (Chicago)

Lenti and staff have the Caravan rapidly climbing the rankings in the National Prep Poll -- up from No. 36 in the preseason Sporting News/School Sports Power 50 to No. 11 in this week's NPP. Mount Carmel has dominated back-to-back Chicagoland-ranked opponents, beginning with a 30-8 rout of Providence Catholic (New Lenox) two weeks ago on ESPNU, and last week's 31-0 drubbing of Brother Rice. Lenti, in his 23rd year at Mount Carmel, is 253-41 with nine state championships.
