FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

PREPNATION.COM SELECTS REGIONAL PLAYERS, COACH OF THE WEEK

September 6, 2006

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - PrepNation.com -- the online home of the National Prep Poll and the PrepNation 101 All-American Team -- has named its first regional players of the week and national coach of the week for the 2006 high school football season.

NORTHEAST
Rob Marasti (QB/DB) Mount Lebanon (Pittsburgh)

Marasti helped Mount Lebanon knock Woodland Hills (Pittsburgh) from the regional rankings with a 23-14 upset. The 5-foot-7, 165-pound senior scored on touchdown runs of 37, 1 and 1 yard and also intercepted two Woodland Hills passes to help clinch the win.

EAST COAST
Paul McCoy (RB/DB) Matewan (W.Va.)

One week after rushing for a state-record 537 yards with five touchdowns (in a 48-43 win against Pikeville-Shelby Valley, Ky.), McCoy continued to dazzle with 306 rushing yards and four touchdowns in Matewan's 27-14 at Madonna (Weirton). He also interecepted a fourth-quarter pass to help seal the win for the Tigers. McCoy, a 5-9, 165-pound senior, has ran 59 times for 843 yards (14 average) and nine touchdowns in two games.

SOUTHEAST
Noel Devine (RB) North Fort Myers (Fla.)

Devine, one of the nation's top college prospects, scored three touchdowns and averaged 21 yards per touch in North Fort Myers' 65-7 rout of Estero. The 5-8, 175-pound senior ran 11 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 150 yards and another score.

MIDWEST
Alex Matthews (QB) Shelby County (Shelbyville, Ky.)

Matthews accounted for all seven touchdowns in the Rockets' 48-12 blowout of Whitley County (Williamsburg). The 6-0, 170-pound junior threw for six scores (giving him 10 in two games) and ran for another touchdown from 54 yards out.

MIDLANDS
Dalton Krysa (RB) Fort Osage (Independence, Mo.)

The 5-11, 175-pound sophomore ran 31 times for a school-record 370 yards with five touchdowns in the Indians' wild 58-48 win over Raytown South. Krysa also scored three two-point conversions. It was Fort Osage's first home win in three seasons.

SOUTHWEST
Kody Spano (QB) Stephenville (Texas)

In his first game as starting quarterback (replacing all-stater Jevan Snead who debuted Saturday under center for the University of Texas), Spano accounted for seven touchdowns and more than 250 yards of total offense in the Yellowjackets' 56-14 rout of University (Waco). The 6-2, 200-pound junior passed for three touchdowns and ran for four more scores.

WEST COAST
Kellen Moore (QB) Prosser (Wash.)

Moore, a 6-1, 180-pound senior, threw for 407 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the Mustangs' to a 69-7 romp over state-ranked Southridge (Kennewick) at the Emerald City Classic Kickoff at Qwest Field. Moore set state records for passing yards (4,989), touchdowns (66) and completions (346) last season.

NATIONAL COACH OF THE WEEK
Rush Propst - Hoover (Ala.)

Propst and staff led the top-ranked Bucs to a 34-7 nationally televised victory over two-time defending Oklahoma 6A champion Union (Tulsa), ending the Redskins' 57-game home winning streak. Despite the inherent distractions that come with being ranked No. 1 nationally plus the airing of an MTV reality show about the program, Propst has Hoover playing at the top of its game. Including a preseason win against defending 4A champ UMS-Wright (Mobile), the Bucs have outscored their first two opponents by a combined 72-7. Now in his eighth season at Hoover, Propst is 93-8 with five 6A state titles.

"Unlike nearly all other national high school football weekly and postseason recognition teams you will find, the weekly and yearly PrepNation honorees are selected for on-field achievement only -- without regard to their college recruiting potential," says PrepNation.com Editor and Publisher Jamie DeMoney. "There are plenty of recruiting rankings and websites out there already. We are about honoring players and coaches strictly for what they have meant to their high school team's success."
