Shiloh Christian coach aware of Trinity's physicality

In his introductory remarks Wednesday at the news conference for the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Series, Intersport spokesman Joseph Salituro said that Shiloh Christian coach Josh Floyd had made a phone call to explore the possibility of his team's inclusion in the Labor Day high school football extravaganza. Floyd got his wish, but his private-school team, the defending Class 4A state champion in Arkansas, is facing Euless Trinity -- a team that won the 2009 title in the top division of the highest classification in Texas.

Prep Poll champ Yates invited to White House

The Yates boys basketball team traveled a lot of miles last season and beat every team along the way. Now the Lions will be traveling again, only this time for some presidential recognition. After winning their second consecutive Class 4A state championship and finishing ranked No. 1 nationally by five major high school polls, the Lions have been invited to visit the White House and President Barack Obama.

ESPN RISE High School Football Kickoff

ESPN will begin its 2010 fall football programming with a newly developed TV event called the "ESPN RISE High School Football Kickoff," featuring 16 teams from seven states in eight exciting high school football match-ups; the weekend-long event will precede all high school, college and pro-football regular-season fall football programming. Live from five states—Florida, California, South Carolina, Texas and Ohio—the ESPN RISE High School Football Kickoff will feature eight teams from the ESPN RISE FAB 50 2010 preseason ranking, seven ESPNU 150 ranked players and more than 60 Division One recruits. The eight games will be televised live on ESPN, ESPN 2 and ESPNU, August 27-29.
