2008 Team to Watch: Southlake Carroll
Jamie DeMoney, PrepNation Founder and Publisher
PrepNation.com continues to look ahead to the 2008 high school football season. We're still a couple months away from the start of our expanded preseason national rankings release, but it's not too soon to whet your appetite with mini-previews of teams that are likely to figure very prominently on the national scene this season.Southlake Carroll will begin the 2008 season in a very unfamiliar position: as the hunter, rather than the hunted. Not only will the Dragons not begin this season ranked No. 1 in the nation (as they have done more than once this decade), it's very unlikely they will be the top-ranked team in the state or area.

Jamie DeMoney, PrepNation Editor and Publisher
For the 22nd consecutive year, the National Prep Poll will be recognizing the nation's top high school football programs through its weekly national and regional team rankings. Top high school football coaches across the nation are being surveyed now to collect complete, accurate, and up-to-date information for our preseason poll and other packages. This year we have set up a web page that will allow high school coaches the option of entering their preview information online rather than filling out the questionnaire by hand and mailing/faxing it back to us.

2008 Team to Watch: John Curtis

PrepNation.com continues to look ahead to the 2008 high school football season. We're still a couple months away from the start of our expanded preseason national rankings release, but it's not too soon to whet your appetite with mini-previews of teams that are likely to figure very prominently on the national scene this season. Last year the prolific Patriots lost two games for just the second time since 1986, but still added their 22nd state championship award to the trophy case. J.T. Curtis, the second winningest coach in prep football history, returns 10 starters from that team.

2008 Team to Watch: Carmel

PrepNation.com continues to look ahead to the 2008 high school football season. We're still a couple months away from the start of our expanded preseason national rankings release, but it's not too soon to whet your appetite with mini-previews of teams that are likely to figure very prominently on the national scene this season. Since the state of Indiana added a Class 5A bracket to its postseason tournament in 1985, an elite group of four high schools have dominated the competition. Ben Davis (seven), Warren Central (five), Penn (four) and Carmel (three) have combined to win 19 of the 23 titles. With six starters returning on each side of the ball, including four players with early Division I offers, the Greyhounds will be the early season favorite to successfully defend last season's championship.

2008 Team to Watch: Byrnes

PrepNation.com continues to look ahead to the 2008 high school football season. We're still a couple months away from the start of our expanded preseason national rankings release, but it's not too soon to whet your appetite with mini-previews of teams that are likely to figure very prominently on the national scene this season. Of all the teams we have looked at so far early this preseason, perhaps no team has a better looking resume for the preseason No. 1 national ranking than South Carolina power Byrnes. In his debut season as head coach, Chris Miller led the Rebels to their fifth state champion in six years. It was a perfect 15-0 season capped off by a convincing 48-9 rout of once nationally ranked Summerville in the 4A/Division I final.
